WOOHOO!

The commissioned piece is finally complete! Six rhondels and four pieces of trim (one 96 inches long and the other 29 inches long) for a Dalmatica for my friend Kellie! (well for her husband actually) This is a combined project for A&S in the SCA. She is hand sewing the great rusty colored linen tunic and then appliqueing these embroidered pieces onto it. It is our hope to display it at Pennsic on the A&S display. Ill scan in the documentation (Khatife/Kellie did most of the research, i found a little more on the embroidery) and post it a little later when my niece is asleep! (she's already grumping Im typing this in and NOT paying attention to her!)

Not sure what else to do with my time now. LOL! This took 13 weeks!! Ive discovered I dont embroider quite as quickly as I thought I did. Course...my Laurel tells me "When embroidering, figure out how long you think the project will take...then double that." Words of wisdom.

What I'm up to..

Well...I am currently working on a commission project that is nearly done. Ill post pics of it when it is finished.

Some things on the project list include finishing mundane projects that were started and never completed, some gowns for myself for up coming summer events as well as Pennsic...and also tunics for my two sons as they will be attending Pennsic this year and camping for the first time.

I also want to learn this stitch:

The plaited braid stitch. I havent even attempted it yet but ive seen it used in so many period pieces and want to learn it. But..i wont start anything till im done the current project.

Looking for Ideas

So in my cleaning of bedroom today I came across this lovely piece of fabric. Its a little over a yard and I'm trying to come up with something SCA related to use if for. Wouldn't dare use it for anything for my boys as its too nice and well, they are boys...nuff said.

I have had an intriguing suggestion of using to make a girdle book! I can bead it up some. that or a cushion cover. If I chose to go with the girdle book idea, I'd need to learn how to create the knot that is tied at the end. From my understanding there is a specific type of knot that is used. I would love input as well from my blogspot friends. :D
